BABA's Birthday Cake
As a child I went to the circus every year, my Uncle Patrick "ran" the circus and it came to town every year for my birthday. Ok so not FOR my birthday but it was always here for the week of my birthday. I always thought I would bring my kids to the Medinah Shrine Circus to run through the basement, get all the cotton candy they could eat, get any toy out of the stockroom and of course get picked up by the ears by Uncle Patrick or Cousin Paddy, after all that was tradition... Well the Medinah Temple is now a Bloomingdale's, the circus is no longer in Chicago and no chance of ever taking my kids to the circus at the Temple. So we have to SETTLE for the Ringling Bros. show, I know it is the "Greatest Show on Earth", and we had fun but it is just not the same. We went to the Circus Friday night, another Kozlowski outing involving, Nick, Nenna, Lukas, Grandma Jamie, Grandpa Joe, Baba, Serge and me. Grandma Jamie decided to get the Circus Celebrity seats, which were front row and we got to ride the train in the ring during the show. We had a great time, Nick loved the elephants, and the over salted popcorn :). Overall, a good show, not the same as I remember but a good show. It was also My mother in laws 60th birthday so it was a extra special night and weekend. We threw her a very small surprise party on Saturday night, she was surprised.. It was a great little party for the immediate family in the area, everyone enjoyed getting together. And my mother in law enjoyed her big birthday.

isn't strange that no other children in our family will have that experience? i haven't thought about it in those terms b/f but it kinda breaks my heart on a whole other level. i grew up in that building - learned to walk there, my brother taught me to ride my bike in the basement, i ran around that building like it was my 2nd home. i'm sorry that your boys will never get to share those memories. mom told me she finally went not long ago. i don't know if i could . . .
also, when i used to tell people that my family worked in the circus industry they always asked, "does your dad swing on the trapeze?!"
*i'll give you a minute to gather that mental image*
but i should have just said, "my dad RUNS the circus." it sounds much cooler when you put i that way. thank you ;)
