Tangelo

This week was a rough week, our 14 year old cat Tangelo died on Friday. We were out running errands and came home. Serge found him at the top of the basement stairs having what looked like a seizure. Serge picked him up, Tang was grasping for air and crying. We wrapped him in a towel and Serge raced (through a few red lights) to the vet. Tangelo died in his arms on the way to the vet, which is only 2 miles away. When Serge walked into the vet, Tang didn't have a heart beat and had fluid coming out of his nose. The vet said that given his age , breed and lack of symptoms it was a heart attack. There was nothing we could have done to save him or to have known this would have happened. I rescued him 10 years ago from a shelter, he was blind in one eye, had claws, snored like a truck driver and was always under our feet. But he was loving, clean and what we wouldn't give to have him at our feet now. We have done our best to explain the loss to Nick and that kitty doesn't live here anymore, he has asked a few times when kitty is coming home, he tells us he misses kitty and that he wants another kitty but a blue one. (that's his favorite color). Louie is still looking for the cat in all his favorite places and is now not leaving our side, he is lost to. I know this will all pass but it is still hard. When I was pregnant with Nick we had to put down our other cat because of cancer. I am not sure what is harder, the long good bye of a sick animal or the sudden death of one. Either way it sucks.......... No more cats for now, Serge is allergic and was taking medication everyday to live with the cat. I had the cat first so my rule was, the cat stays:):). We have enough on our plates getting ready for Nathan, maybe when the boys are older we will get one. For now, we will just keep opening the pantry, cabinets, and closets waiting for him to come out..........
